The short version
If you email us or use the contact form, we keep what you sent so we can write back. We don’t sell it. We don’t hand it to ad networks. We don’t put you on a mailing list you didn’t ask for. If you ever want it gone, ask and it’s gone.
Who we are
This website is run by Maja’s Homes Unipessoal Lda, a Portuguese company based in Alcabideche, Cascais, trading as Maya’s Homes. Maja Milič is the person responsible for how your data is handled. You can reach her directly at maja.milic@mayashomes.com.
What we collect
Three things, no more:
- What you tell us. When you write through the contact form or by email, we receive your name, your email address, your phone number if you choose to share it, and whatever you wrote in the message itself.
- What our server records. Like any website, ours logs the basics — the IP address that visited, the browser used, the time, the page requested. This is technical housekeeping, used to keep the site running and to spot problems.
- What anonymous analytics tell us (if active). If we’re using a privacy-friendly analytics tool, it counts visits in aggregate — how many people came, which pages held their attention — without identifying anyone individually. We never use anything that profiles you across the web.
Why we collect it
Because you wrote in expecting a reply, and replying well is the studio’s job. Once we’re working on a project together, we keep the correspondence so we can refer back to what was discussed, what was promised, and when. That’s the whole of it.
Our legal basis
Under the GDPR (Regulation EU 2016/679) we rely on:
- Pre-contractual and contractual steps at your request — when you write in to discuss a possible project, and afterwards if we’re working from a signed proposal (Article 6(1)(b)).
- Legitimate interest in answering the enquiry you initiated and running a small business in a normal, recognisable way (Article 6(1)(f)).
We don’t rely on consent for the contact form, because there’s no separate tick-box: the form exists for the specific purpose of starting a conversation, and writing through it is the conversation.
Where it goes
Your data lives on the email inbox the studio uses and on the server hosting this website. Both are kept by reputable providers based in or operating under EU data-protection rules. We do not pass your information to advertising networks, data brokers or marketing lists.
How long we keep it
- Enquiries we never respond to or that go nowhere are kept for up to three years, in case you write back.
- Active client correspondence is kept for the duration of the project plus the period the Portuguese commercial code requires us to retain commercial records (currently ten years).
- Server and analytics logs are kept only as long as needed to diagnose problems — typically weeks to a few months.
Your rights
You can ask us, at any time, to:
- show you what we hold about you,
- correct anything that’s wrong,
- delete what you no longer want us to have,
- hand you a copy in a portable format,
- stop using it in ways you’re no longer comfortable with.
Email maja.milic@mayashomes.com with the request. We aim to answer within a week.
If you think we’ve mishandled your data and we haven’t put it right, you can complain to the Portuguese data-protection authority — the Comissão Nacional de Proteção de Dados (CNPD).
Cookies
The site does not set tracking cookies. If we ever add analytics, we’ll prefer tools that work without cookies or with a single, anonymous one — and this page will say so.
Updates to this page
If we change how we handle data, we’ll update this page and refresh the effective date below. If the change is material, we’ll say so plainly in the page itself.
