Blue-and-white tiles from floor to ceiling. A kitchen untouched since the 1980s. Parquet floors darkened by decades. Ornate wooden furniture older than most of the neighbours. But up on the top floor — a pitched ceiling, a balcony, and a view of the Atlantic that made none of that matter. A specialist sees past the condition. A view like that, you design around — no matter what's inside.

The pitched ceiling became the room's best feature — not something to hide, but something to celebrate. A crystal chandelier where fluorescent tubes used to be. Vertical wood slats where azulejo used to cover every surface. The two bedrooms are hidden behind the wood ripado wall — no visible door frames, no handles. Push and they open. A secret door aesthetic that keeps the living space clean and uninterrupted.

Lavender cabinets, pink tile backsplash, gold teardrop handles, and a gold faucet. This kitchen was designed to have a personality.

The original bathroom had a shower over a bathtub and tiles you'd find in a hospital. This one has a freestanding tub under a skylight, a walk-in rainfall shower behind glass, and a vanity carved from wood. The skylight was Maja's idea — natural light in a room that had none. The freestanding bathtub sits directly beneath the skylight — positioned so you can lie back and look straight up at the stars.

The master bedroom got the full treatment — coral bedding, blue walls, textured art, brass reading lights. The second bedroom was left as open space. Sloped ceiling, natural light, built-in storage, and room for the owner to decide what it becomes.
